Happy FriYAY Team!
Training for any race, regardless of the distance or terrain, is always a Work in Progress. We are always in the construction process to become fitter, stronger, smarter, more resilient.
Over the weekend, we had numerous outstanding performances from our athletes on start lines. We applaud their efforts and their successes.
However, 1 stella performance from our Crew really did stand out. To have high expectations of the outcomes, to really back yourself & your training only to have it all come unstuck on the day is hard for an level of athlete to deal with. Some athletes pull the pin & call it quits when it all gets too hard, others would spit the dummy and take the soft option for the remainder of their events, however, it is elite age group hard core athletes like our very own Kath who was 100% in struggle street with vomiting, nauseas & extreme gut pain, when her true colours shone through when the chips are down.
To have standout event doesn't always mean you have to win, do a pb or smash the records. Time and time again, standout races are those which are hard fought to the very end and there is such pride in the courage and emotion to get there.
Kath had prepped perfectly for the Hell of the West event last weekend, not a stone was left unturned , yet come race day, the stars didn't align & she found herself having to deeper than ever before, both mentally & physically to keep it all together and continue.
I guarantee Kath, upon reflecting, is so extremely proud of her resilience and her perseverance in pushing through extremes to make it to the finish line. And not only make it to the finish line, but to be 2nd in her category in a Qld Championship race!
These are the races, we as individuals and a team, can take great energy & positive spirit from all Kath went through & conquered. Well all have bad days from time to time, and when we are deep inside the hurt locker, thinking how much we are suffering right here & now, use the kind of grit Kath displayed on Sunday to motivate you to keep pushing onwards. There is always somewhere deeper we can delve into if we want the outcome badly enough.
Let's do This,
