Happy FriYAY Team!

Growing up with a family mad into all sports, one of the passions I had was watching the swimming (surprise surprise!!) I loved being glued to our TV to watch the major swimming meets with superstars like Susie O'Neill, Hayley Lewis, Tracey Wickham, Kieran Perkins, Michael Klim & the great Thorpedo, just to name a few, churning up & down the 50m pool breaking records and claiming gold medals left right & center.

Of course, over the years these sporting idols retire, move away from sport and some of them we never see or hear about again. Being a huge fan of Susie O'Neill, I follow her on Instagram and continue to be inspired by this great sporting champion.

I was extremely fortunate a few months ago to be competing in a swim meet at Chandler where I was standing next to, and talking to her, like we were long lost buddies! To me, it was an OMG moment in my life! It was at this meet, her 1st since her retirement back in 2000 after the Olympics, where she raced the 50m Fly SC, breaking the World, Australian & Qld records for 50 AND 25 fly!!! It was an unreal moment to be part of!

Just a few weeks after the Swimming World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, the Master Swimming World Championships are currently taking pace, and yes, Susie O'Neill was on the blocks as the fastest qualifier for the 50 fly in the 50-54 Female category.

And yes, yet again, she smashed World Records and won in a time of 29.08.  OMG .So once again, she is a World Champion! At 50 years of age. (I must add it was a super tight finish with 2nd place in 29.60 - thanks less than a fingernail!)

Madame Butterfly will always be an Australian Sporting Legend, however to see her make this incredible last swim one of her finest, I am sure will inspire so many adults of our generation. Age is just a number right, so regardless of who we are, there is always something pretty darn special out there for us all to strive towards.

Let's do This,

Alli

So much fun & atmosphere at the Dreamworld Fun Run for 2023! This year saw a brand new course which headed out towards the Big Brother house, back through the carpark then weaved its way through the Theme park, including a Colour Run section, wildlife out on display and water pistols to cool us down! (I must say the photo's from the water pistols would make awesome pics for the Eyers Wide Shut calendar LOL LOL!!!) There was a record crowd participating this year, an awesome event all round! Congratulations to Jase who ran so well & came away with 2nd in his age category. Coach Alli mixed it with some young whipper snappers, finished 4th female overall & took a 7 min win in her category! So wonderful to see Kahori & Eiji with beaming smiles, as well as Liz & Len out there too!

SATURDAY 19th August

With GCM & SCM done & dusted, lets go exploring with no pressure for runs pre or post parkrun.....just running for fun today.....and what a better location to do this at than Sirromet parkrun. Oh yeah I hear you say!!! This run is only 30 mins up the highway and one none of us have run before! It is a hilly out & back course with the plenty of wildlife, scenery & wallabies along the way. This is one On Tour not to miss!
