Happy FriYAY Team!

Isn't there something just so special about people, both near & far, coming together for a common interest and being so excited about the outcome. Yes, that's right, we have all been frothing over the FIFA Women's World Cup since the penalty shoot out on Saturday night! Regardless of our nationalities or country we support, this moment in time, watching history being made is moments we will all cherish in years to come.

The rise of the Matilda's has been more than just a rise in women's soccer. Yes, we have been captivated by their success, and everyone is talking about the Matilda's. It is also more than giving Women the recognition they deserve in sport, more than paving a way for our daughters in the future.

To me, this World Cup is so much more than one team at one point in time.

It is the millions of Australians, united as a nation with all of our cultures and citizens coming together as one. An entire nation brought to together, inspired and standing tall with such pride. The viewing of these Matilda's matches, both live at grounds around the country and home viewing, has blown out all kinds of records time & time again.

It has been 23 years since Cathy Freeman won Gold at the Sydney Olympics in the 400m, this sporting event previously held the largest viewing audience. I am sure we all remember where we were when Cathy walked out onto the track in her speed suit. Just like we will all remember cheering at the TV when Sam Kerr kicked that right footer through 2 defenders and goalie and into the back of the net to even the score 1-1 with England on Wednesday night. The entire country erupted as one.

I have no doubt on Saturday afternoon, there will be, once again, millions of viewers around the country, and the world, glued to a women's soccer match, unifying us all and etching in a part of Australian pride, joy and history!

Go the Matilda's, Aussie Aussie Aussie!!!

Let's do This,

Alli
