Happy FriYAY Team!

I remember many moons ago, well before my coaching days when I was an athlete part of a squad, the key sessions during my training week which stood out the most where the ones I attended with my team mates. I was very fortunate back in the day to be part of a squad here on the Gold Coast which was run by, the then TA High Performance Coach, and we too, would do our track sessions at Griffith Uni.

After all these years, I can still remember some of the sessions we did, the people I ran with and suffered with, and yes, had a truckload of fun with! I have some great memories of these years!

Fast forward 25 years, and I am now on the coaching side, the one dishing out the suffering each week! Every Tuesday afternoon at 5.30pm, I love seeing all our athletes come together. To hear the laughter, the chattering, pushing each other along and pretty much taking over the entire track each week!! Recently, we have had some of our athlete's who are not even running, coming along to support!

As I turned up the tunes on Tuesday night, and realised that we were the only squad there and had the track to ourselves, what an incredible atmosphere we are all creating for each other. Regardless of abilities, everyone is made to feel welcome. The tunes are pumping, the stopwatches are ticking and the laps are being run.

As I looked around me on Tuesday night mid set, it took me back to years earlier when it was me out there running around. The experiences, friendships and memories we are all creating now will hopefully be with us all for many many years to come.

Lets keep striving for those goals TOGETHER!
