Happy FriYAY Team!

There has certainly been some amazing stories come out of the running community this week. Oh course, we had the amazing GC50 last Sunday, where runners of all abilities came together to compete over 5km, 12km, 25km & 50km.....and wow, there certainly was some huge success stories! Most outstanding was from Marnie Parton who smashed the Women's Australian 50km road record in a time on 3:15:46!!! That's an incredible 3.54 pace! WOW

Then if we look internationally over the weekend, Sunday AM // Australian PM was the Valencia Marathon in Spain. 4 of our top women marathon runners were on the start line for this event, each of them hoping to run times under the Olympic Qualifying standard & secure a place on the Australian Marathon team for the 2024 Olympics. Qualifying time is 2:26:50. Can you believe, ALL 4 women came UNDER the qualifying time, running times between 2.23.08-2.24.18. WOW WOW WOW!!!!!

I am blown away at the depth of Australian Women's running right now. For so long the running scene remained stagnant with only a handful breaking qualifying times & records over many years. Now, we have 5 women who have qualified for the Olympic marathon.....with there is only 3 slots for Australia. Yes, a lot can happen between now & next May when the team is selected, but gee whiz.....I wouldn't want to be one of those selectors!

Bring on the future of running, particularly for women, and setting  a blazing trail for our future distance runners.

Let's Make it Happen,

The Racing Buzz

Last Sunday at Coolangatta, saw super hot conditions for the GC50km Run Event. Its always such a tough time of the year to run because of the conditions, so a HUGE congratulations to our team who were on the start line. In the 50km we had Matty B with a HUGE PB, as well as Mr Machine Jezz with a blistering pace. For the 25km we had Neill, Danny and Maty T, all of whom had exceptional races.  We also had young Claire & Kaelan in the 5km on Saturday PM...with Claire running such a strong race to be 2nd female overall!

Up on the Sunny Coast, Coach Alli was scrambling, sliding and surviving the Beerwah at Daybreak 25km Trail run. A very testing course in super hot conditions, happy to finish without stacking it and a 2nd place in the category!

This Sunday is QTS Round 4 at Raby Bay where we are proudly represented by Andre & Jo! Have a great race up there, we will all be sending our fast vibes!

The date & details for the most important event of the year have been released on the Facebook page! That is of course, our Multisport Gold Christmas Party & Awards. This is going to be another awesomely hilarious year, with the Urban Street Sports making a comeback. We did this a few years back and OMG....I think we all went home with cheeks sore from laughing! The trophies are being engraved and there is a New Life Member being inducted this year. Sunday 10th December is the date you need to lock in!

Entries are now OPEN for Port Mac 2024....so who is in and for what distances? Had FOMO this year.....then don't miss out being part of the action next year!
