Happy FriYAY Team!

So with Winter embracing us, particularly over the last week where the morning temps have really dropped, now is the time when there is an increased number of athletes off sick with colds & flus. This happens each year at this time and it can be really disruptful  to not only training, but to life as well!

As athletes, we are more susceptible to getting sick. With exercise intensity and training loads, the physical damage on the body causes a range of stress responses, leaving the immune system compromised. This means we are more exposed to infections, germs and viruses that we encounter in day to day life.

There is 2 key elements we can target to be effective in fighting off illness:

One thing Covid did teach us was the importance of hand washing & personal hygiene, so please keep this up!

And secondly, the keep the immune system strong, means we need to be getting plenty of sleep each night, power naps if possible :-) as well as a daily diet filled with colour, carbs & proteins.

Of course, there isn't a magic button for staying healthy over winter, but when practiced methodically and consistently, we all should have a better chance of staying healthy and able to keep hitting our upcoming goals in training and racing!
