Happy FriYAY Team!
Over the past month we've been absolutely spoilt as sports fans. It seems every time we've switched on the TV there's been another world-class event to enjoy. From the drama and excitement of the Tour de France, to the incredible racing at the Tour de France Femmes, and the Commonwealth Games finishing a few days ago, we've had a front-row seat to some of the greatest endurance athletes in the world.
Watching riders like Tadej Pogačar attack the mountains with what looks like effortless ease, it's easy to forget the years of work that have gone into those performances. We see the victories, the yellow jersey and the celebrations, we see the multi-million dollar teams and sponsors, but we don't see the countless early mornings, the endless training kilometres, the disciplined recovery, or the sacrifices made along the way. The same can be said for every athlete competing on the world stage. Success isn't built in the spotlight—it is built in the quiet moments when nobody is watching.
As endurance athletes, there is so much we can learn from watching the best. Their consistency is inspiring. They trust their training, race with courage, adapt when things don't go to plan, and never stop looking for ways to improve. Whether your goal is your first sprint triathlon, a marathon PB or crossing the finish line of an Ironman, the principles are exactly the same. It's the accumulation of hundreds of ordinary training sessions that eventually leads to extraordinary results.
We have watched these incredible World Class athletes over recent weeks, we should admire more than their talent—look at their habits. Notice their patience, their resilience and their commitment to the process. They're a great reminder that there are no shortcuts in endurance sport. Keep turning up, keep doing the work and keep believing in the process. One day you'll look back and realise that all those early mornings and training sessions have added up to something pretty special.
Live Boldly,
