Happy FriYAY Team!

There is a saying amongst most athletes, "if its not on Strava, then it didn't happen!!! "  Well, that is not always the case and I will gladly put my hand up to say I have been doing hours and hours of 'secret training' in the pool.

Well, to most people it is secret training because I do not make it public on any social media or data app. However, there is an incredible squad of Juniors I swim with, they know exactly the amount of big weekly kms I do. We churn up & down that black line, averaging 5-6 squads per week and I wont even go into the weekly kms we swim because it even scares me!

There has been squads when I have looked at the board and wanted to walk out, there have been sessions where I can not even lift myself out of the pool at the end. I have never taken the soft or easy option. Despite the hurt, there has been some beautiful friendships made, many laughs, dummy spits, and some incredible learnings about the life as a swimmer!

So why on earth would I do something so crazy? Very simple. Its the same reason why trail runners run 100km, or Ironman athletes keep going back for more, why any of us enter a race to be honest.....because there is a thrill in a challenge and those high personal goals to achieve.

For me, to be part of the Helensvale National Squad is an honour. And now, to be at the Masters National Swim Meet at the Olympic pool in Sydney, is something in my wildest dreams I never thought I would be doing.

But like everyone out there with a dream and a goal, these new pathways are so incredibly exciting, rewarding, challenging, fatiguing, but most of all, limitless. I am totally passionate about what I am setting myself to accomplish now and into the future.

There is nothing too big to set ourselves up for if we truly believe in what and why we are doing it. We should all be looking for ways to be the best version of ourselves, to reach for the stars because there is honestly no limits on what the human spirit can achieve.

Lets do This,

Multisport Gold parkrun on tour Number 8

Saturday 14th May

Multisport Gold parkrun on Tour #8 will see us venture to a course not many of us have done! Yarrabilba! The course is at Darlington Parklands, Yarrabilba & is run entirely on foot paths. It is a 3 1/2 lap course, run entirely in an anti-clockwise direction, with signage stenciled onto the paths.
For those looking for a 3.5km warm up, we will meet at Logan Village, on Waterford-Tambourine Rd at 6.15am. Then after parkrun, and easy jog back to the cars. From here, we will find a coffee shop (open to suggestions!! ) to regroup & swap run stories!

In true Multisport Gold style, having our squad colours over the course will be another parkrun on Tour to remember!
The Racing Buzz

No racing to report last weekend, which is the 1st in a very long time!!!

However.....this coming weekend we have 2 events the Multisport Gold crew will be represented at.

The GC Run Festival is on at Robina, and those who have participated in this run before, know it is a challenging course! To all of our runners out there on Sunday, please embrace the hills, enjoy the descents and really savour those finish line feelings down the finish shute! #letsdothis team

Sunday we also have the transferred Cooly Classic swim event back on! We all have our fingers crossed for flat surf and favorable conditions as we have Ant (Mary's husband) on the start line for the 5km swim! Ant has picked up from the disappointment of the postponed event and had some cracking swims, so we know he is going to be so strong out there on race day! #ownit

Upcoming Training Schedule
  • Sunday Long ride will be ON on this week. This is the last long-ish ride for the 70.3 Crew, so if your looking for an easier paced, slightly flatter ride, this is your one! The Crew will be rolling out from Ox Lake at 5.30am as usual. Coach Alli will still be away in Sydney, so this is  NOT a squad sanctioned ride, therefore you ride at your own risk. Those on programs will need to know their rides as well as RoB. It will be a great social activity to meet at the CafĂ© after this ride-run for a few laughs and great coffee!
  • Swim Squad is back to Tuesday & Thursday morning at Coomera Anglican Aquatic Centre. Please arrive by 5.20am to go through the session and be in the water by 5.30am.
  • Track is back at Coomera Anglican College Track as of Tuesday 26th April. Please arrive by 5.20pm for a quick chat and starting the warm up at 5.30pm. During winter, it may be advisable to bring head lamps for extra lighting around the track.
