Happy FriYAY Team!

Coming into the Winter training months, it is generally the time of year some athletes decide to hibernate as its cold outside, it is dark and the easier option is turn off the alarm & roll over in bed.

In my opinion, the Winter months are the most important training time of the whole season! This is the crucial period were we can start building our fitness and endurance base, enjoy training at a slower pace, working on weaknesses & importantly, getting stronger. This means by the time the new season rolls around again, we are good to kick start the season well ahead of those who took the softer option!

I must say, this week the numbers at our sessions have dropped off, but what I am totally loving right now is the team work which is developing in our sessions. Watching the guys at track adjust to various location changes has not stopped the mateship and spirit amongst the runners continuing to shine through. Liz & Lisa, Tim & Erin, Jase & Trin, Justin & Mitch. Seeing everyone fist pump after hills has become quite a tradition now, and it is great to see the smiles during and after these sessions.

Swimming on Thursday morning, we had Kaz, Trace & Pete showing us how to do IM! We had Bretty & Jase side by side, then we had Doug & Mary. These 2 worked absolutely  perfectly together and produced some cracking times as Mary heads into her final few weeks before Cairns 70.3.

This is just to name a few examples of how our group is committed to being loyal to each other and the Team, and it has really be apparent this week!

Yes, Winter is never easy, but when you have training buddies who are so motivated by each other, external elements don't even enter the equation. Having such positive people around us continues to raise the bar as we head into the Winter months.

Let's do This,

Alli

Multisport Gold Take 2 parkrun on tour Number 8

Take 2 Saturday 4th June

Multisport Gold Take 2 parkrun on Tour #8 will see us venture to a course not many of us have done! Yarrabilba! The course is at Darlington Parklands, Yarrabilba & is run entirely on foot paths. It is a 3 1/2 lap course, run entirely in an anti-clockwise direction, with signage stenciled onto the paths.
For those looking for a 3.5km warm up, we will meet at Logan Village, on Waterford-Tambourine Rd at 6.15am. Then after parkrun, and easy jog back to the cars. From here, we will find a coffee shop (open to suggestions!! ) to regroup & swap run stories!

In true Multisport Gold style, having our squad colours over the course will be another parkrun on Tour to remember!
The Racing Buzz

So last weekend we had no racing.....and this weekend is a busy one with a number of events on !!

Sunday we have Multisport Gold well represented at the GC30 Event located on the beautiful Spit. We have runners in the 7km, 15km and the 30km.....with some of our runners using this event as a perfect warm up into GCM only 6 weeks away and The Guzzler in 9 weeks time! To all of our runners on Sunday, enjoy the course, the atmosphere & cross that finish line feeling really proud of all you have accomplished!

Sunday we also have Trin on the start line for the Noosa 1/2 marathon. Trin is coming back from a slight niggle and her training over recent weeks has been top notch. Have a really positive run Trin, we look forward to your results! Then Sunday, Trin is on the start line in Noosa for the open water swim....open water swimming is one of her secret weapons and even with tired legs from her 1/2 marathon,  she will be amazing!

King tri unfortunately has been cancelled this Sunday. Just when we thought we would be getting excited about racing after Covid, Mother Nature has once again caused havoc,  resulting in an unsafe environment for athletes. Onwards & upwards guys.....bring on the November race!!
