WEEKLY GOLD TUFF STUFF

Happy FriYAY Team!

I completed my 1st Ultra marathon in March, crossing the finish line after 52km of running. I was totally spent, there was nothing left in the tank, there was no way I could've taken 10 more steps....lol....not even to the coffee van LOL But I was super proud to have completed my 1st Ultra injury free and loving it.

This event for me, was something which I will always remember not only because of the beautiful trails & experience, I also discovered how hard it is mentally & physically.  Since this race, I have held the upmost respect for those participating in Ultra trail events. There is so much hard work, pain, planning and solo training which goes on behind the scenes. The logistics are even harder the longer the event is.

Last Sunday, our Trail Queen, Erin, was on the start line for the BVRT 50 miler (85kms!) For Erin, this race was quite unique for her as there wasn't a lot of elevations which she is so incredibly strong over. But, this new adventure gave her the burning desire to show she was capable of achieving great things.

And achieve great things she certainly did! Erin completed this course in just over 7 hours. She paced herself perfectly and stuck to her game plan. Slowly but surely, she reeled all her competitors in, and crossed the line as the 1st female outright and 2nd overall. AND, she also smashed the female course record by 50 mins.

Tim was an amazing Support Crew for her, and support crewing is a very stressful job to have!! Being at the checkpoints at the right time, having the right supplies ready, time gaps to other competitors to be accurate, and to stay positive regardless of wet shoes or not!!

Erin is the most humble person and athlete I think I have ever come across. There is no fan fare, no hype, just pure hard work and guts. Its not pretty out there, but who cares when you are in the thick of it, focusing on getting to that finish line. And to continue to produce wins and records, the future is so exciting for her.

I think we can all take a leaf out of Erin's book, continuing to raise our personal bars & really test the limits of the human spirit. Who knows where it can lead you.

Congratulations Erin, you truly are one incredible athlete, you continue to lift us all.

Let's do This,

Alli

## Each year we head out for a celebration after GCM, it is such a great time to catchup with our training buddies, congratulate, swap race day stories, embellish our recollections of the day and really enjoy a social night out! This year, we are making a change to the HarbourVue Tavern at Coomera Waters, which is a lovely relaxed atmosphere over looking the water. We do have an outdoor undercover area booked so there is space for the kids to run around (yippee say the parents!) This does mean you may need to rug up as it could be chilly! The menu is delicious so this really is one for the squad to get together to celebrate our efforts over the past few months & race day! This has been booked for Sunday 3rd July at 5.30pm.

## And Girls, don't forget to lock in Saturday 9th July for our Girls Day Out, starting with Kirra parkrun followed by breakfast at Ground Currumbin. We then have a booking at 11.00am at Bathhouse session, for hot spas & pampering. This is going to be a great morning for the Girls to do Girlie things & hang out together! Details are on our Facebook page.
