Happy FriYAY Team!
I'm not sure about you, but each evening this week I have been glued to the TV watching our awesome Aussie athletes in action in Birmingham at the Commonwealth Games.
So many sports, so many incredible athletes, all out there doing their best in their quest for a pb, a gold medal and for their country.
Over recent years thanks to social media, I have been so inspired by Jess Stenson and her marathon journey. So see her take a convincing victory in the women's marathon was such a Games highlight for me. In the mens marathon, I didn't know much about Liam Adams, and to be honest watching him break away in the 1st 5kms, I thought for sure he was going to blow up soon. But his race plan, his determination and courage, saw him run such a gutsy race, and I am sure earnt the respect of all marathon fans for his never-say-die attitude out there.
Before the Tokyo Olympics, Jase & I were swimming at Griffith Uni pool of a Saturday AM, and were so lucky to watch Emma Mc, Cody, Zac S-Cook, Mac H, Kylee Mc and so many more of our elite swimmers training in prep for the Olympics. Watching Emma Mc, both Jase & I were in absolute awe of her. So strong yet graceful, her starts and turns, her sprint efforts were, and still are, beyond words. If only we knew then what she was going to achieve, I'm sure we would've sat & watched longer, chatted more to her & her coach and not taken watching her greatness for granted! To see her go on to achieve so much and create history at these Games, is certainly another inspiring highlight of the Games
What I do love to see during the broadcast, particularly at the swimming, is the Aussie Team Sprit. Their cheers, enthusiasm and support for each other really brings home the importance of being part of positive team. The entire Aussie team is out there doing their best to set new standards and making some incredible memories along the way. Not only for them and their team, but an entire nation.
Let's do This,
