WEEKLY GOLD TUFF STUFF

Happy FriYAY Team!

Saturday 8th October. On the big island of Hawaii. In a little sea side town called Kailua-Kona. The 2022 Ironman World championships for Men will take place. At 6:25am the cannon will sound off Dig me Beach for the male professionals. Over the next hour, the nerves will kick in as the age group men tread water, legs kicking below the surface. Paddle boarders will hold them back in line under the cannon sounds. The helicopters hover overhead and the atmosphere is electric. This is a day like no other. It honestly is the holy grail of Triathlon.

This is the day when Bretty will swim 3.8km, ride 180k through the hot and humid lava fields along the famous QK highway to the turn around at Hawi. He will battle it out with the growling cross winds on the return. He will hit the run and start out along Ali’i Drive where the crowd will be going wild. Palani Hill will be waiting for him & his legs. The famous Energy Lab is below sea level and it as hot as an oven. The heat off the road burns through the soloes of your shoes & your feet feel like they are on fire. But to get to this point, you know once you turn, your heading for the incredible finish line back on Ali’i Drive, where Mike Riley will be on that microphone to bring him home.

The Hawaii Ironman is a race that is like no other. It is a race that will be etched in Bretty life forever. Only the best of the best have an opportunity to be part of this iconic event. Bretty has done the work, he has put in week after week of long hard solo hours and not once complained or made up an excuse. He has prepared for this event with perfection and determination. Next Saturday he will be ready to take on the best in the world.

Bretty and his beautiful wife Christine fly out on Monday morning. Things are starting to get real!

We all have the upmost respect for Bretty, and now as we send him on his way, is our opportunity to remind him that no matter how hard things get out there on Race Day, his entire MSGOLD family is 100% behind the whole way. We will be cheering you on Bretty, giving you all our positive energy and know you will do MSGOLD, Christine and your family and most importantly, YOU, proud.

Let's do This,

Alli

The Racing Buzz

Raby Bay was the 1st race of the QTS Series last weekend, and what a sensational morning it was for racing! The atmosphere is always exciting as athletes blow away the winter cobwebs and make a start of their 2022-23 Triathlon campaigns. A huge Congratulations to Emma who had an awesome swim // bike // run to take out 1st place in her category. Doug had a blistering swim which set him up for a really strong race. And Bretty, to round out his final IM Competition Block, had a cracking race, he is now all fired up and ready to go! Congratulants to our team on your awesome results.

A reminder to all our Team, the Club Champions Series is well under way. Get in amongst the action by logging your parkruns & your races! All points soon add up! You will find all the details on the website or outlined below.

Multisport Gold Take 2 parkrun on tour Number 11

Saturday 12th November

Our parkrun on Tour #10 to Mudgeeraba was cancelled and relocated due to flooding, so lets head back to Mudgeeraba for our Tour #11. Mudgeeraba is such a pretty course, it is fast and flat, so this is a great venue to try for a pb!

This will also be a great opportunity to welcome back our World Championships athletes as a social morning out together. Of course there will be breakfast afterwards.

Details for a warm up jog will be posted as we get closer to the date.
