Happy FriYAY Team!
Looking back over my triathlon years, I completed my 1st Triathlon back in Sydney in the famous Kurnell Series, I think the year was 1998! Over the next 25 years, I have had the most incredible experiences, racing all over the world with some results I am still so proud of today. Triathlon has been my life since I was a child and a part of my life which I could not live without.
After achieving everything I have dreamt of in this sport, the passion for racing over the last 2 years has lessened and I have found myself now exploring different avenues within the sport. I have loved these new chapters in my Triathlon Story and am excited for the opportunities I am presented with on the other side of racing.
I became a Technical Official a few years ago, and over this time have been involved in a number of events, however it was last Sunday at the Garmin Noosa Triathlon that I really was made aware of the HUGE role TOs play in the safety & operations of events. This event, is the largest Olympic Distance event in the world, and it certainly was an eye opener and an experience I learnt so much from and can't wait to go back for more next year.
I have also found myself in a Coaches Education role a number of times, and it is with great enthusiasm I have again been given the opportunity to educate our up & coming Foundation Coaches in a training course in a few weekends time.
Yes, many of the athletes at Noosa are weekend warriors and just want to say they have finished the Garmin Noosa Triathlon, and the new Coaches coming through are very raw and are like sponges! To me, having the past race experiences and knowledge not only to share with my incredible Multisport Gold Family, but also to the greater triathlon population, ensures my love for this sport will continue to flourish over a array of different avenues. Not to mention so many new people I have met....I just need to remember all their names now LOL
I am always happy to share stories (I should write a book!) and love to educate and teach athletes of all ages & abilities. Triathlon is not only about the training, the start and finish lines, the racing, it is also about ensuring the future of our sport for all athletes and coaches is in safe hands moving forward.
Let's do This,
