Happy FriYAY Team!
Just like the Olympics, every 4 years we all start to get a little excited for the FIFA Soccer World Cup. At the moment, this huge worldwide event has been overshadowed within our Multisport Gold bubble by news of the seismic change in the cycle course at Port next year!!
The ride course at Port has been under intense scrutiny over the last few years as the condition of the road continues to deteriorate, as well as the growing satellite suburbs popping up on the southern end of the Region.
This means more road closures for the growing number of residents, traffic diversions and more inconveniences for the community. Of course, we all need to community to support these events and it is great to see the Local Council & stakeholders have come up with new routes for both the Ironman & 70.3 distances.
I honestly think this is a win for everyone racing, yes, even the 70.3 crew who now have Matthew Finders twice LOL! More elevations means more challenges, and of course, more concrete we all need to be taking in training in the build up to the hillier course!
Oh, what was that? A soccer world cup? Played in a desert? With no beer allowed...? What's the world coming too! Oh well, good luck to the teams our crew support like England, Japan, Australia, USA....don't seem to see New Zealand or South Africa....wonder why....
Let's do This,

I think we were all slightly jealous of Sharyn's weekend away at Hamilton Island! However, when we read her race report, I am sure there was a few sighs of relief we weren't up there racing this super hilly & challenging course! Hamilton Island is no way flat, well except for the airstrip which is pretty cool to ride over LOL!! Sharyn, you trained so hard for this race & we are so proud of your results in both the Sprint distance & open water swim, placing 3rd. Who knows, next year there may be more of us joining you at the buffet!
Congratulations to Marion, Phil & Sally who survived super difficult conditions last Sunday at King Tri. Well done Team.
This afternoon we have the On Running Squad Relay down at Southport Parklands. The event starts at 5.45pm, check out our Facebook page for the Event Guide which includes the schedule, parking & bib collection. The temporary squad tent & banner will be up, its going to be such a fun evening & will be exciting to see our Squad colours out there amongst other GC Run Clubs. |
