Happy FriYAY Team!
With each Ironman Event held, either pre or post Covid, it is with such respect, excitement and anticipation we watch these incredible athletes complete the 3.8km swim, 180km ride & then a full marathon of 42.2km.
Ironman race day truly is the reward for the hard work, the many days, weeks, months of training, which at times, seems never ending! The long hours out there can be lonely & mentally draining. But it the passion to succeed that drives these athletes onwards.
Over the last 10 years within Multisport Gold, we have had 3 athletes rise to the top of their categories & qualify for the Holy Grail of triathlon. The Ironman World Championships in the sleepy little seaside town on the big island of Hawaii, Kilauea-Kona.
Coach Alli, JD & Bangers, along with Legacy Athlete Phil, have all earnt their slots for this incredible, life changing event.
Last Sunday at Busselton Ironman, Bretty had an absolutely outstanding race, crossing the finish line in a time of 10.30.33, well under his goal time of 11 hours.
Not only was this a PB for Bretty, it was 4th place in his category. He is one of our quiet achievers, who does his training mostly alone. He swims so consistently, and is happy in Lane 8 getting it done.
With slots for Kona still unannounced, we have everything crossed that Bretty gets that email in the coming days offering him a slot to the Ironman World Championships.
Bretty, we are so incredibly proud of you & your race at Busso.
This is such a huge reminder to every single one of us that Anything is Possible if you have the belief in YOU.
Over & out for today,
Alli |

Making memories. That's exactly what the Multisport Gold team did last Sunday at the Dreamworld Fun Run. With the crew meeting on the front steps for a super fun photo, it was then into the park with much excitement for what lay ahead for us! And what an amazing run it was! From the start line in the carpark, racing through White Water World & the water pistols, through to Dreamworld, running under the new Steel Taipan, through the reptile park, weaving our way through Wiggles World, then down to Kung Fu Panda & through to the finish line. Everyone lapped up the atmosphere & had an absolutely brilliant run. Thankyou to all of our Multisport Gold runners, it was so exciting to have us there representing! Congrats to Coach Alli & Matt who were both female & male winner of the 5km.
This Saturday a number of the Team will be racing at Raby Bay. This is always an awesome event, so have a great race everyone, we look forward to seeing some racing action on Facebook!
Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday this weekend, is the SSRW held at Runaway Bay. The best Junior triathletes in Queensland will come together for 4 days on intense racing, starting with a running 1500 TT on Thursday afternoon. Following up with a Le Mans style of racing, Aquathon and Super sprint racing on Friday and Saturday, all coming together for Finals on Sunday.
We are so proud to have our Pocket Rocket Bowen racing this weekend. Bo has drawn really good waves, lifting to race with the junior elites for the Aquathon. If anyone is keen to come and watch over the weekend, racing is all day Fri-Sunday. |
